Meet Heather
I’ve always had a big imagination.
As a kid, I saw the world a little differently—full of color, stories, and possibility. That sense of wonder never really left me. It just took me a little while to find the right way to express it.
I found that language in painting.
While studying at the University of Maryland, I took a college painting course that would quietly shape the direction of my work. One of our assignments was to reinterpret an existing painting and transform it into something that felt like our own. I went down to the National Gallery and I chose The Plum by Édouard Manet.
Instead of keeping its muted palette, I did what felt natural to me—I filled it with color. Bright, expressive, joyful color.
When my professor saw the finished piece, she told me something that stayed with me: never stop painting.
Looking back, that moment feels like the beginning of my style. Since then, my work has become known for its vibrant color, whimsical spirit, and emotional energy. I paint intuitively, letting color lead the way and allowing each piece to evolve into something playful, soulful, and alive. I think of my work as "Whispers from the Universe," which I feel serves as a conduit for my inner experiences, translating into visual expressions that bridge the internal and external worlds.
At the heart of everything I create is the same spark that started it all: imagination, color, and the belief that art should make you feel something. My hope is that when you bring one of my pieces into your home—or into your everyday life—you feel a little more joy, a little more color, and a reminder to stay connected to the playful, expressive parts of yourself that never really go away.
