Frequently Asked Questions about having a Paint Party
1. Do I need artistic ability to have a painting party?
No, not at all! I will teach you and your guests step by step. This is all about fun!
2. What is the minimum number of people I need to hold a private party?
I require at least 8 people per party.
3. What is the length of the party?
My part of the party will be anywhere from 3 to 4 hours. I will need 30-40 minutes of set-up time, approximately 2 to 2.5 hours of instruction time and 20 minutes of clean up time. Sometimes the instruction time will run into 3 hours. Your guests should arrive no later than 30 minutes before the time we agree upon for the instructing to start. It will give them time to get settled.
4. What is the booking/cancellation policy?
I require a $50 deposit to save the date that can be made by credit card or check. I require the deposit within 3 days of booking to hold the date or the date is up for grabs. Please try to book at least a week, preferably two weeks in advance. Full payment will be made prior to party or upon arrival to party in the form of cash, check or credit card. Payment can be made to the hostess/spokeperson by guests upon arrival, who then pays in one lump sum at the time of the party or guests can put their payment in an envelope provided and put their name on it to account for their payment. If you cancel 7 days before the date of the party I will give a full refund. If you give at least 48 hours notice of cancellation, I will issue you a credit to be used for another party. After the second date and another cancellation the deposit if forfeited. If you cancel less than 24 hours before the party the $50 deposit will be forfeited and another $50 deposit will be needed to rebook. If you agree to hold a party for 6 and only 3 people come, you will still be charged for the full headcount submitted. I require the final headcount one to two days prior to the party date to prep the canvases. Please be sure to convey this to your guests.
5. How much does it cost to host a party?
Prices are per person with a minimum of eight people in attendance. Adults: will be $25 a person with an 11x14" canvas, this is the standard or a request can be made for a 16x20" canvas which is $30 a person and separate from the specials that are running. Kids 7-11 years old are $20 a person for 8 or more guests for an 11x14" canvas. I can also design invitations in PDF format for you to print out or email to your guests for an extra $5.
6. I want to host a party with a specific theme but do not see a painting in the Gallery that matches that theme. Can I request a new painting?
I am happy to create a painting specifically for your event. There is an additional nonrefundable $50 fee for custom paintings. I will need at least two weeks advance notice of your request.
7. Can each person choose their own paintings?
No. I will be instructing step by step one painting of choice but any artistic addition done by you or your guests is encouraged!
8. Is there a minimum age requirement?
12 and up for adult parties. I can do kid's parties for ages 7-11. Please contact me and we can talk about a subject of interest.
9. What kind of paint will we paint with?
Acrylic which dries very quickly and will be ready for transport at the end of the party.
10. What should I wear?
Wear something that is comfortable and that you can paint in. I will provide aprons but sometimes accidents do happen so please wear something that can take a drop or two of paint.
11. Do I need to do anything for the party?
I will provide all of the art supplies you need to complete a painting plus table coverings and aprons. I will need access to running water and a sink. You will need to provide tables and chairs for your guests. It is suggested that a space with ample lighting be used. You are responsible for providing your own food and beverages of choice.
12. How far do you travel?
Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Chesapeake - basically 25 miles from zipcode 23455. I will travel further for a small fee depending on how far. For example for 40-50 miles away or an 45 minutes - an hour drive time- $50 extra.
13. Are gift certificates available?
Yes! They make a great gift.
14. Will I be on Facebook? Yes, I take photos to post on my page business page: www.facebook.com/heatherdonisdesigns.com and may be used for marketing purposes at some point. Feel free to tag your photo and/or download from my page.
